Not a chance.

Still, I'm happy to hear Lemieux wants to do at least a couple more releases from this batch of reels in the near future. While it would of course be better to hear them for free rather than paying $100+ in subscriptions every year, released music is still better than music locked up forever in the vault. I got the vague impression (which Lemieux probably intended to give) that he's holding back even better shows for the next releases.
I'd hoped that Lemieux would use the dead.net Taper's Section streams for various things that would never see official release, but apparently not.

What intrigues me even more is the story of the crewmember who just walked off with a box of reels from '69/70. Things were pretty loose then; if one guy could do it, others could, and I imagine other 1970 shows may still be sitting in some old Dead roadie's basement.

I agree - his comments suggest there are "bigger" shows available, which makes me wonder why he'd make it sound like they're releasing lesser shows if their goal is not just to release unheard SBDs. I suppose that's just hype and doublespeak anyway - the most recent Dave's Picks was a mainly unheard SBD.

Anyway, I reckon one of the releases we'll end up with is 11 Feb '70. Perhaps they'll milk it and do a Fillmore East Feb '70 box.

I wonder what prompted the shows to be returned. I suppose the crew member got old or died or 43 years of guilt got the better of him. I don't understand taking tapes then leaving them in a box though. Perhaps it was more a case of grabbing something on the way out than anything else.

perhaps some deal was made between Rhino and the Owsley Stanley Foundation. Otherwise, OSF would not have been able to commercially release any GD Shows he recorded.
